Hello everyone - I'm delighted to report that I have finally got my second pot piece finished. As it has been quite a while, I thought a very brief re-cap might be in order. So below is roughly where we started with this one:
Which was then worked on and adapted a little, quilted and some painted bondaweb and foiling added - all aiming at pulling those disparate fabrics together a bit. So that got us to here:
I then went on to add the pot and tree in raw edge applique, together with some japanese lettering which reads 'Bonsai'. The quilt was then backed, bound and mounted on a board, as with quilt one. So here is 'Oriental Pot 2: Bonsai':
Well done Hilary! I think three pieces will look fantastic together. It's amazing how diverse our work is turning out to be isn't it? I can't wait to see this exhibition!!
ReplyDeleteI love your bonsai tree and pot Hilary - it's beautiful. I also love the way they hang together as a group.
ReplyDeleteLuscious, and the tree is a beautiful shape.

ReplyDeleteThanks girls! - I do think they are going to look a rather cheery trio. Desperate to know what the comment you withdrew said Stephers ... was it terribly rude??
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the complete opposite to the first comment! No, really it was the same. I have a strange and interesting time posting on this blog, as we always go through the denial of my existence and then I find that something agrees I am in fact here, and then posts often appear twice.
ReplyDeleteI know Steph - blogging is actually quite a complex business i find ..... you will note I have left my customary huge gap after my blog ... no idea how or why I do this, but is becoming a signiture style I feel x
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary,
ReplyDeleteThese are looking great and I look forward to seeing everyone's work at the exhibition. I'm amazed how you are able to successfully integrate all those patterns together to such good effect!
Thanks Donna - I think making alot of differnt patterns and colour work together is probably my favourite part of the process - it is a great challenge and so enjoyable. Some enjoy a challenging piecing session (arghhhhh) others just love a complicated and beautifully executed quilting pattern .... I love colour, pattern and fabrics - so a session involving all of those is pure bliss! I think it is working up to being a really interesting exhibition isn't it - Hilary
